The trek typically begins from Joshimath, with travelers making their way to Govindghat and then trekking to Ghangaria, the base camp. From Ghangaria, trekkers embark on day excursions to explore the Valley of Flowers and the nearby Hemkund Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage site. The trek o ers a mix of lush meadows, dense forests, and rugged terrain, all under the backdrop of majestic Himalayan peaks. At its highest point, the trek reaches about 14,200 feet at the Valley of Flowers, with the base camp situated at around 10,000 feet. The region's climate can be quite variable, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) and frequent rainfall, making waterproof clothing essential. The Valley of Flowers is not only a visual feast with its diverse oral species, including orchids, lilies, and poppies, but also a haven for wildlife such as the Himalayan blue sheep and the snow leopard. The trek is moderately challenging, requiring a reasonable level of tness due to the altitude and uneven terrain. Rishikesh To Josimath
Start early to make the most of daylight on the 250 km drive from Rishikesh to Joshimath. Enjoy the picturesque drive through the foothills of the Himalayas, passing along the Ganges River. Witness the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. Cross the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini. Reach Joshimath by evening. This small town serves as a base for various treks and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight stay & Dinner in Hotel.
Joshimath To Govindghat
The 16 km. drive takes you through picturesque landscapes with views of the Alaknanda River and lush green valleys. Govindghat serves as the starting point for the trek to Ghangaria. It’s a small town with basic facilities and the base for your trek. The trek from Govindghat to Pulna is relatively straightforward. Pulna is a small village and the last settlement before Ghangaria. The trek from Pulna to Ghangaria (10,000 ft.) climbs through forests and fields. Ghangaria is the base camp for the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib, with overnight stay and dinner.
Ghangaria To Valley Of flowers
It’s advisable to start early in the morning to maximize daylight and enjoy the best views. Valley of Flowers trailed is well-marked. The trek from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers involves a gradual ascent through diverse terrain. The Valley of Flowers is situated at around 11,500 to 12,000 feet (3,500 to 3,650 meters). The valley offers excellent opportunities for photography with its panoramic views. After exploring the valley, retrace your steps back to Ghangaria. The descent typically takes about 2-3 hours.
Ghangaria To Hemkund Sahib
Start early in the morning to avoid afternoon weather changes and to make the most of the daylight. The trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib involves a steep climb. The path is well-defined. As you ascend, the landscape changes from lush green forests to alpine meadows. Enjoy the views of surrounding peaks. Hemkund Sahib (14,200 ft.), a key Sikh pilgrimage site, features a gurudwara by a glacial lake. After visiting, descend to Ghangaria
Ghangaria To Govindghat
The descent from Ghangaria to Govindghat offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and forests The path is well-defined and primarily downhill, making it easier on the legs compared to the ascent. Once you reach Govindghat, take a moment to rest and refresh yourself. The 16 km drive from Govindghat to Joshimath takes you along the Alaknanda River, with picturesque views of mountain landscapes, and small villages. Overnight stay & Dinner in Hotel.
Joshimath To Rishikesh
The route offers stunning views of the Himalayas, lush valleys, and the Alaknanda River. The drive includes winding mountain roads, so be prepared for sharp turns and occasional narrow stretches. Rishikesh, known as the "Yoga Capital of the World, " offers a mix of spiritual, adventure, and cultural experiences. A spiritually significant site with panoramic views. If you arrive in the evening, consider attending the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, a beautiful and spiritual experience. Explore attractions like Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula.
